Monday night we drove to Ely. We got to the hotel around 11:30 p.m. Bryce had fallen asleep at his normal time of 7:30 and he woke up when we got to the hotel and tried to put him in his play pen. We got all of them in their beds but Bryce wanted nothing to do with it. Normally I would let him cry for a few minutes and then he would have gone back to sleep. Well he cried and then the next room started to pound on the wall. So I tried everything I could to get him to sleep. At 2:45 a.m. Doug tried to take him on a drive. He fell asleep but woke up the minute he got back to the hotel and took him out of his seat. So needless to say Bryce wandered around aimlessly until 3:30 a.m. and then he fell asleep. The next morning Doug was excited so we went and got the trailer so that we would have something to haul the buffalo in to Moab. We then drove to Oak City. We went to the farmer's pastures. The farmer said we were going to get the buffalo in a 30 acre pasture. It was more like a 3 acre pasture. There was the fence and we walked in the fence and he said pick one out of 6 buffalo. He picked one. It was hilarious. The buffalo stood in a corner and didn't move. Doug shot at it with his muzzle loader and it didn't even flinch. Doug's Dad shot at it with his .308. He was aiming for the head and he hit it in the shoulder. He was only 50 yards away. Well come to find out Doug's Dad can't see very well and needs new contacts. So Doug took the gun and shot and hit it in the neck. This made the buffalo start running so Doug shot again but missed. The farmer had seen enough and the buffalo was running away so he put his gun up to his shoulder and shot. The buffalo fell in his tracks. So now Doug is convinced he needs to buy a bigger gun since the farmer was using a 300 mag.

Bryce loved the feel of the buffalo fur. Carson loved all the blood and gore. He filmed the whole thing and it was all about the gore. He even stuck his finger in the buffalo's eye. He figured he had stuck his finger in a fish's eye, so he wanted to see what it felt like sticking it in a buffalo's eye.
This dog would ride on the farmer's 4-wheeler on the back and even hopped in the tractor when the farmed scooped up the buffalo so we could skin it. It reminded me of Grandpa and his dogs.

That looked like quite the buffalo hunt. It was good Carson was there to film it I bet it was hilarious. It sounds like it was a great adventure for the boys though.
